Video & Motion

Bringing the message to life.

Internal and external work, in whatever form the client needed at that moment. These are the pieces I'm proud of.

01How this works

Brief, concept, script, storyboard, interview outlines, shot lists, style direction. On site for the interviews, traveling to the locations, picking up B-roll on the ground. Then cut review, notes, final approval, and presenting it to the client.

The part nobody sees

Before a camera turns on, there's biosecurity protocol, legal review, sign-off from the client and the agency, scoping, travel, and a delivery date somebody already promised. Most of a shoot is decided weeks before anyone shows up.

Then you're standing in a plant

With someone who has never been on camera, never worn makeup, and now has lights in their face. Being interviewed is hard. Getting the nerves out of a person so they sound like themselves is its own job, and it's most of what makes an interview usable.

Payment Protection Purchase Journey

0:30  ·  2D animation  ·  Credit union executives

Borrower interest in payment protection is at an all-time high. The film had to make that case to the executives who decide whether their institution offers it.

The structure borrowed a metaphor everyone already understands. Stock the shelves. Put it in the cart. Take the cart to the register. Then two checkout lanes, one with a person and one without.

What I did
Creative brief and script overview, narrative strategy, animation and motion direction, on-screen text hierarchy, proof-point selection, and the source footnote for every statistic. Built with an internal animation team.

Digital Storefront

2:11  ·  Animated explainer  ·  Executive audience

An embedded finance platform delivering different capabilities to support members where they are. Primary audience was the executive team, secondary was B2B sales and credit union leadership.

The product is software, so there was almost nothing to film. The plan called for screen capture from a live demo environment, mockups for the mobile views, and named B-roll cut against the voiceover to keep two minutes of interface from turning into two minutes of scrolling.

What I did
Script and storyboard through three versions, voiceover direction, disclosure placement, B-roll and motion direction. Every claim carries a numbered source.

Tyson Fresh Meats: Farm to Fork

2:37  ·  Documentary  ·  Fortune 100 manufacturer

A film about vertical integration, told as a journey: a farrowing house, a plant floor, a retail case, and a restaurant kitchen where the head chef cooks with the product. It cuts back to corporate throughout, because the point is how the parts connect.

Shot once, cut twice. A long-form film plus short segments by subject, so one production run covered a year of communication needs.

What I did
Concept, outline through four drafts, interview topics per act, key scene lists, location direction, storyboard. On site for the interviews, traveling across the Midwest to get them.

What Goes In

0:41  ·  Stop motion  ·  Star Ranch Angus

A recipe film where the ingredients are the claims. Words get chopped on a cutting board, whisked in a bowl, seasoned, and put on the grill. Lift the lid and there's a finished steak.

Every phrase in it is a substantiated claim. No artificial ingredients. Hand trimmed. The satisfaction guarantee. They look simple on a package, and each one carries rules about how it can be said, in what context, and next to what.

And food styling is its own discipline. Getting a steak to look like that on camera is harder than anything I wrote.

What I did
Concept, shooting script, storyboard, voiceover copy.

Campaign Launch

0:29  ·  Internal  ·  Corporate and sales

The internal launch of The Beef & Pork Experts. It played to the corporate audience and the sales organization, not the plant floor, and its job was to get them behind a platform that moved the company from tomorrow to today.

The message underneath it was simple: you are the experts. It got re-cut across several years as the positioning matured, rather than being replaced.

What I did
Copy and message direction across revisions, storyboard, and tone direction for the music.
